I'm really excited to play this rom on the OpenEmu emulator on Mac with my pc engine mini controller, but I am getting "no valid system detected for track02.iso and invalid cue sheet format for nyanja-demo.cue. thanks!
I like the game, it reminds me of some classic dinosaur bubble title but with cats; which of course make everything better. I plan to add it to my exhibit this year at California Extreme's console area so more people can see and play it.
FWIW, I'm able to run it on my Analogue Duo with the current firmware and a Turbo Everdrive Pro. I'm looking forward to my copy of the full game from the kickstarter!
Wow, the art and music are both really charming! The main theme is still running in my head!
After finishing the demo, however, I did notice a couple of minor issues. The first is with dropping though platforms: I'm not sure if the game simply doesn't like my controller, but sometimes, the character jumps when he should be dropping, often causing an unfair death.
The second concerns a glitch I found on Stage 2's 9th rung...an enemy apparently got stuck off-screen, and no matter what I did, I couldn't defeat it. Essentially, I got trapped (although the invisible enemy eventually did kill me as I ran back-and-forth between the wrapping screen).
Lastly, it'd be nice if knocked enemies fell into pits versus just flying straight across the screen. This would open more possibilities for combos. As the game currently stands, many levels seem more puzzle-oriented (how do I best approach this monster) than score-driven (how do I nail every enemy at once). The former is fine, but it seems at odds with what I assumed was the core gameplay mechanic of smacking baddies into other foes. Again, just thoughts.
Nevertheless, I like what you've done, and I've already preordered your $100.00 box on Kickstarter. I can't wait to see the final product!
Glad you enjoy it and thank you for playing! On the Duo, are you using a disc or trying to play it on a jailbroken console with the files? Burning to a CD should work on the Duo. Thanks again!
I love cats. In my opinion this could be better. Suggestions:
1) there should be an H after the 1st A.
2) the characters are fine but a bit childish. How about female and male nekos in their teens instead? But don't make them porny because it won't be a friendly family game.
3) I hope you have mice, dogs, birds, squirrels, cockroaches related enemies and bosses since cats are attracted to those things.
4) Insert a litter box in the game doing something, just saying.
4) Just a thought for the plot: one day you're stretching like a cat and the enemy interrupts you and all hell breaks out. You're upset.

Hey there, I hope you don't mind, but I have featured Nyanja in best homebrew games.
I'm getting an "invalid cue sheet format" error in OpenEmu
I've tried the demo with the emulator and the game is great!
Unfortunately it doesn't work on the Analogue DUO.
Glad you enjoy it and thank you for playing! On the Duo, are you using a disc or trying to play it on a jailbroken console with the files? Burning to a CD should work on the Duo. Thanks again!
I have no way to burn it to a CD so I tried only to play on a jailbroken console.

5) Have cat toys in the game doing something.
6) Make the characters hate water.
That's all for now.
